A Letter from Pascale     A Letter from Pascale

Love is in the air... Or is it just a winter storm coming? It's hard to tell these days. Valentine’s Day is often depicted as a bright spot in February, probably as a means to take our minds off the long winter. But how many of us are still inspired with thoughts of love and the message of Saint Valentine?

Personally, I am highly sensitive to the scents of flowers, don't much like chocolate, and am uncomfortable with forced romanticism. However, Valuentine's Day does hold a secret thrill for me. Since hearts are my very favorite shape, I love walking into any shop during the weeks before V-day to find hearts on everything - socks, cakes, teddy bears, jewelry, etc... I've had to curb my impulse to buy everything, but it still tickles me to be surrounded by all those love-filled forms. I can't help but feel that all those hearts around me serve to awaken my own.

We are inundated with messages of romantic love which hardly help us find self-love or create balanced relationships. Can we replace these notions with the fact that we not only have love, but we are love? Can we learn how to live guided by the force of our hearts as opposed to the veil of our minds? Even without flowers, chocolate and saccharin messages from professional greeting card writers, we have the opportunity to celebrate love every day of the year. Even if there’s no one else around! Something to contemplate as the earth goes through its last throes of chilly retreat...

Wishing you love-filled wellness,

Pick up you Free Referral Cards at the studios and give them to your nearest and dearest. Any guest new to the studio will get a free class, and a nice discount on a class card purchase. In addition to the inevitable thanks from your referral, enjoy the expansion of your yoga community and a special thanks from CenterSpace.

Travel to India
For 3 weeks starting at the end of February, I will be travelling throughout Northern India with my daughter. As remarkable as this trip seems, it actually became an act of surrender and allowing for me. The list of reasons why I could not take this trip was longer than my arm, and yet it all came together (despite me!). Not only will I enjoy this amazing time with my beloved daughter, I will also have the privilege of attending classes led by the Dalai Lama, and participating in the International Yoga Festival in Rishikesh.

If all goes well technologically, I will be writing about this experience in my blog. Please check in, see how it's going for us, and send us a note of connection. I always love to hear from you!

       ARTICLE: Pascale Recommends...
I've come across so many wonderful things to share with you! I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.

Film: The first is a short internet film entitled "The Story of Stuff" (www.storyofstuff.com) It is a brilliant view into what's behind those super low prices at discount stores, what happens to resources as they are converted to consumable goods, and what price we have paid for our commercially-driven lifestyles. Although this is a heavy topic, the film is done in a very accessible, even light-hearted manner. I would highly recommend sitting down with the entire family to have a look. It was the best 20 minutes I've spent in a long time.

Workshop: If you've ever wondered how to integrate the life of a householder, or even one in the business world, with the spiritual path, I have a wonderful workshop for you. Joe Nunziata is a smart, funny, enlightening speaker appearing soon in NJ. I was lucky enough to have participated in one of his workshops recently and was incredibly pleased. He not only knows his way around the world of numbers, corporations and ambition (!!), but has also studied extensively with spiritual teachers and guides. He ties the work of balancing your chakras with that of being successful in your career better than anyone I've seen. Check out this event at www.infinitepossibilitiesevents.com.
If you're the first person to contact me about this event, get yourself a free ticket (a $169 value).

Oh, and you may also notice on that website that I'll be speaking at the Unity Church in Montclair on Sunday February 17th about the Spirituality of Eating. I would love to see you there! More information at www.infinitepossibilitiesevents.com.

ART & YOGA WORKSHOP with Ivy
Make your own Mala beads!

The workshop begins with a flowing yoga class that will help you to connect your intuition and get the Shakti flowing. We include chanting, meditation, and free form movement/dancing for a complete experience. Ivy then guides you through the process of designing your own set of mala beads by turning intention into a mantra, and choosing beads based on instinct and intuition.

The making of the mala beads is a silent process, so that the students can silently recite their mantra each time they add a new bead to the string. As the malas are created, Ivy shares information on the significance of 108, the use of mantra, and the energy of each style of gemstone.
