A Letter from Pascale     Thoughts from Pascale

We may find ourselves excited and invigorated by the chill in the air and the buzz of the season. We may find ourselves a bit fatigued battling the cold and adding holiday activities to an already overly full schedule of responsibilities. Perhaps we find ourselves completely overwhelmed, not only with the current moment, but with the anticipation of the frenzy to come. I believe that the experience of depletion takes three parts: the feeling of being unsupported, not having enough life force energy (prana, chi, ‘The Force’) running through us, and insufficient rest and nourishment.

We forget our access to so many tools to keep the reservoir full and the energy flowing, including yoga, breathing and meditation, wholesome, nutritious food, and, so importantly, great people. I definitely tend to get drawn into the ‘I can do it all on my own!!’ mindset. Of course, the Universe continues to be patient with my wanderings and leads me back to the truth, gently or not. Sometimes that takes the form of overwhelm and ‘I CAN’T do it!!’, sometimes my body demands to be taken care of in the form of an illness or injury, and sometimes it’s a soft loneliness and disconnect.

I’m then invited to examine my options for finding my feet on solid ground, aligning with my inherent flow of life and snapping back into the present moment. I can actually take the insight, peace and balance I gain from my yoga practice into the world. I can use the inspiration to stay in Warrior 1, even when my thigh is on fire, to help me find my untapped energy and resilience when the demands of life seem overwhelming. I can set my intention to stay present during Savasana to help me notice the opportunities I’m given to rest and rejuvenate. I can constantly come back to the breath, reminding me of what lies beneath the messiness of life. Full absorption, immersion and acceptance of the moment, no matter what it looks like, can be the medium in which we dissolve all those feelings of overwhelm, unhappiness, even despair. The strength and equanimity we find on the mat or cushion can help us maneuver through snow storms, challenging relatives and all the other goodies of the holiday season.

I invite you to stay connected – to your practice, to the people who mirror your own magnificence, and to all the experiences that feed your soul (like donating to a good cause... more below!). I hope you will let me know how I can be of service in your wonderful journey. I offer you deepest blessings for the holidays and our transition to a new year. Wishing you peace and joy,

  CenterSpace teachers
    Our Very Special Teachers

Who's your favorite teacher? There is usually someone whose message resonates most powerfully for you. Or perhaps, you prefer hearing and understanding the many possible perspectives. Interested in learning more about the teachers you know and the teachers you don't? I invite you to get to know the CenterSpace team - check out the bios, posted at each studio, for some insight into who's in front of the room.

Our amazing group of teachers shares impressive training, devotion to the practice, and, most importantly, the ability to transmit the beauty, grace and life transforming power of the yoga practice. I (as unbiased as I can be) truly believe we have the highest caliber teachers I have seen, pulling from all over New Jersey and New York. Have you experienced Vanessa's grace-filled flow, Cheryl's or Shannon's vivacious Vinyasa or Katie's kick-butt flow? How about trying Sharon's soul-soothing practice, starting this Sunday?

I know there is so much great yoga to choose from, especially considering the remarkable regulars - Katherine, Christine, Karen, Alissa, Dima, Teresa, Robyn and Diane. How about adding in something new... Who knows what might happen?

  Wellspring Community School     Pascale Recommends

Wellspring Community School
As many of you know, one of my most inspired endeavors over the past several years has been the co-founding and running of a beautiful school. The Wellspring Community School serves children up to 3rd grade currently, in a holistic learning environment that promotes many of the ideals we honor in our yoga studies.

Wellspring is a small operation, running on our modest tuition and donations to our non-profit foundation. At this time, the school is in need of financial support from the community – not just the families who are served directly, but the greater communities which the children will join. We believe that the education provided at Wellspring will help these individuals emerge self-motivated, curious and joyful, perfectly poised to evolve the world to a more conscious place. Your tax-deductible donations allow us to continue serving our community and the next generation of beautiful beings.

More information on our offerings, as well as a link for donations, can be found at www.thewellspringschool.org. Donations can also be sent to:

Wellspring Community School
1 Church Street
Gladstone, NJ 07934

Remember, your monetary gifts are fully tax-deductible via our 501c3 status as a non-profit. I hope you will find a way to help keep this wonderful work of love alive.
