  A Letter from Pascale     Falling...

I've been noticing the pull of fall lately, even though it's almost as if summer has just begun. I feel split - caught between days at the beach and shopping for school supplies. I love the autumn and am excited by the shifting energy and exciting events. The big one is Global Mala, a worldwide event, which has a hub here in NJ. Please check out more details below, and most importantly, join together with your NJ yoga community for this amazing event.

My beloved teacher, Max Strom, is coming to the area, which is always a big thrill for me. He's not only offering classes and workshops, but also the start of his brilliant teacher training. My time with Max has benefited my entire life. I warmly encourage you to check it out.

We're finalizing the fall schedule now, with lots of fresh talent and greater opportunities to expand your practice. The idea of what brings people back to the mat has been bouncing around my head lately, resulting in some musings, ramblings and thoughts. You can find the article at the very bottom of the newsletter - hope you enjoy it.

Wishing you love and wellness,

The yoga postures and breath are tools to rebuild and transform ourselves. The goal is not to tie ourselves in knots - we’re already tied in knots. The aim is to untie the knots in our hearts. The aim is to unite with the ultimate, loving, and peaceful power in the universe.

    A Very Special Event

8/20/09 • Global Mala NJ 2009
Once again, the NJ yoga community comes together for a celebration of peace and unity. A total of 32 yoga studios, including CenterSpace, will celebrate together on Sunday, September 20th, which happens to be both the UN's International Day of Peace and the Fall Equinox.

We celebrate this wonderful day with 108 rounds of sun salutations and Om chants, as well as a yoga mart, free chair massage, a rockin' concert with Dave Stringer, and more, taking place at St Phillips Academy, Newark's only green school. It's a can't miss event!! Find out more and sign up at www.globalmalanj.com.

Have you been thinking about taking your practice to the next level?
The natural path for many yoga students includes participating in yoga teacher training. There are so many to choose from - sometimes making the process more difficult. I have a recommendation that might make that decision much easier.

My good friend Alicia Rambo-Wozniak runs a beautiful yoga studio in Easton, Pennsylvania called Easton Yoga. She is hosting our mutual teacher, Max Strom, for one of the best teacher trainings I have ever attended. Max is a clear light in the yoga world, a guide who is equally grounded in tradition and vision.

Renowned for his unique insight and knowledge of the physical and emotional body, Max has been one of the most important influences in the teaching and yoga lives for yoga teachers from as many as three continents. I am certainly one of these people. Even after my 15 years in the yoga world, I found this to be the one of the most worthwhile experiences I've had. This 200-hour training and study course is designed to instruct you in the fundamentals and subtleties of teaching Yoga as a system of transformation and healing, as a Way of Life. This training will not only change your life, but also those of the people you touch.

I cannot recommend this training highly enough. More information can be found at www.eastonyoga.com.

    ARTICLE: Why We Practice Yoga

Our paths TO yoga are as wide and varied as our paths IN yoga. Some of us begin because of family influence, while others may intentionally turn away from cultural heritage. We embark with goals of fitness, health or serenity – sometimes all three. Some of us experience love at first site and many more keep trying until the right school, teacher or practice finds us. A few, like me, actually get their first experience of God. Whatever brought us there, however, is rarely what keeps us there.

What does it matter why we practice? As long as we do then it’s all good, right? Well, ... READ MORE...
